On Main St- Kennebunk Residence Merges Historical and Green

Above you see a historical residence, ubiquitous and seen daily along the Main Street of many Coastal Communities throughout Maine.

However what is not apparent is that this residence utilizes numerous "green" or sustainable features typically found only in new construction. The owner's have installed not only the Photovoltaic panels for electricity usage that are pictured below, installed over the 'Ell', but they also utilized high performance insulation, new LED and CFL lighting fixtures, as well as, low flow faucets and dual flush toilets for decresed water consumption. The windows were not replaced with new, rather they were restored and fitted with custom made storm windows with an gasketing system that will decrease airflow and keep the heat in.

If you have interest in a historical restoration that encompasses improvements to energy systems, please call TFH Architects, we have that expertise.

This was no small endeavor and thanks go out to the full team of people who made it happen. This project was completed by Perry Building and Restoration.
